Kinesiology is a complementary therapy which assesses imbalance in the body by noting how an arm or leg muscle responds under the challenge of light pressure. As well as helping all manner of physical and structural imbalances by means of lymphatic massage, acupressure points and nutrition, it is also a very powerful tool to help with emotional problems aswell.

Techniques such as EFT have been developed out of kinesiology. With kinesiology we are able to test a muscle and then retest it to see if the response changes when a verbal challenge is suggested to the client. For example, if a muscle relating to the brain or stomach was strong, then went weak after the suggestion of the word “cat”, we could reasonably assume that the client had a problem with cats which was affecting the muscle response and more specifically the stomach meridian. However, it needn’t necessarily be a fear or phobia of cats – it could be more specific, such as a pet that was ill, or allergy to cat fur.

Kinesiology is a holistic practice, treating the emotional, chemical, nutritional, structural, physical and electrical elements of the person. Treating fears and phobias also receives this approach.

Kinesiology has some excellent and proven techniques to deal with phobias – sometimes eradicating lifelong fears in a very short timescale. If a client visits me with a fear or phobia they want to resolve I would find out :

a) how long they have suffered
b) whether they can pinpoint an initial event which triggered it
c) what makes it worse and/or better
d) what difference it will make to their lives to be rid of it
e) on a scale of 1-10 how serious is it – ie, just by thinking about the phobia, what number 1-10 describes the panic they feel

By means of muscle testing I would then lock the response into the body temporarily. target the specific meridian which is affected by the fear and pinpoint flower remedies and nutrition (Vitamin B Complex is excellent) which will help the individual and with a combination of talking to the client about the fear, when it started and tapping on the specific meridian end points which are affected, reduce the clients fear from 10 to 5 and sometimes 0 in one session. Clearly this depends on the level of fear, how long they have suffered, other factors connected with the fear and how much they want to be rid of it. Throughout the treatment I would be holding Emotional Stress Release points and talking to the client the whole time. Sometimes a previously unknown connection surfaces, forgotten memories emerge which shed light on what appears to be a completely irrational fear.

These techniques can also be used with great success with panic attacks, anxiety, depression, stress and upset.

Performance stress is one of the most common sources of stress in the workplace. With a working environment that constantly subjects its employees to a given set of standard they’d have to meet, the amount of pressure can lead one to question his or her abilities on a given task. There’s always this feeling of not being good enough in the standards of the company.

This is especially true when one has scheduled to make an important presentation for the company. Before the actual presentation, one experiences a sick feeling on the stomach. Sometimes, the pressure is too much that one’s performance is impacted during these situations. For those who are incapable of dealing with the level of stress they are subjected to in these situations, the importance of coping and overcoming performance stress is more important to maintain your ability to deliver within the company’s standards.

Performance Planning

Whether you are taking part in small or big events, creating a good performance is always important. One of the best ways to ensure that you perform well for a given project or task, you need to come up with a performance plan. This will serve to outline what you need to achieve and how you are going to do it.

The Performance Plan will include a list of things that must be accomplished since it will be useful during the performance. Here are basic performance planning tips, covering the physical and mental aspects of it:

ï Check every aspect involved in your performance so you can make necessary adjustments in case some parts do not contribute to better performance;
ï If there is some travel involved, arrange them in advance;
ï Verify whether you have all the items and objects you need;
ï Come up with an alternate plan in case anything goes wrong at the steps you have previously outlined;
ï Keep your mind focused at the task at hand and as much as possible never entertain distractive thoughts. If possible, anticipate them before they happen so you can come up with a plan to counter its effects.

Reviewing Performance

One of the best ways to ensure that you always perform at the top of your level is to constantly aim for improvement. This is one way to combat performance stress knowing that you always re-evaluate your own standards when it comes to job performance. By doing a performance review, it gives you the opportunity for the next performance so you can do better.

Planning and reviewing your performance is a good technique to follow for effective stress relief. If possible, you can ask your superior or fellow officemates for opinion that you can use to improve your performance. Performance stress typically originates from your tendency to question your ability (or inability) to succeed at a given task. When you increase your confidence about your performance, you’d also be able to combat stress that is involved with it.

Creating Proper Mindset

Establishing a mindset that will effectively help you before, during, and after a performance will help get rid of the stress it brings. To find relief from performance stress, you can try the following:

ï Learn how to take criticism well. Instead of developing self-pity, utilize your mentor or co-worker’s opinion as a pointer for areas in which you can improve your performance on.
ï Never aim for perfection. While it is a good fuel, you must rather focus on the steps you need to make instead of the end result. This will also help you be able to have fun with what you are doing, which is another way to relieve yourself of performance stress.
ï Comparing yourself against your fellow workers will not help your cause to get rid of performance stress. Instead, focus on where you are and where you intend to go.

We are often trapped exactly where we don’t want to be simply because we fail to take a decision. We are told to do our research and figure out the best path before moving on. Is that research stopping us in our tracks?

I am not advising anyone to put their research aside. We all need some research to figure out what to do next, to figure out how to proceed to the next step towards our success. But for the majority of people, that same research keeps them exactly where they don’t want to be.

When we are forced with a decision, any decision, we have 3 choices. We either take action right away. Analyse the situation or do absolutely nothing about it. Take a look around you, at all those successful people. What is the one choice they take almost everytime? It is the same for all the successful companies.

I read a story about Michael Eisner a few weeks back. Michael took over the title of CEO at Disney when the company was struggling. It was only worth 2 billion dollars at the time. After only 15 years, it climbed to 100 billion. He took action rather than analyse forever. Only a couple of years after he had joined the company, the executives were contemplating opening retail stores to sell Disney products. It was a long debate and a much divided team of executives. Eventually, Mr. Eisner decided to just open 1 store in a mall for a short period of time. He stopped analysing and he acted.

What Mr. Eisner did is weigh the positive and the negative. If this idea worked, they stood a chance to make millions. But if it failed, the only loss was a bit of time and the cost of one store, which is not much for a huge corporation like Disney. The positive highly outweighed the negative. We tend to over analyse and research more than we need to in life and business. While we analyse, our research keeps us exactly where we are, which is usually not where we want to be. If it was, we would not consider change.

Research is good, but when you think about it for a few minutes and start balancing the plusses and the minuses, in most cases we act faster. Do enough research to get you started and act right away. Learn and analyse as you are going ahead with your decisions and adjust along the way. The best research Mr. Eisner did in this case is to open a store and learn from the results. Of course we all know those results are great. Disney now has over 250 million people visiting and buying in those stores every year. What would be the results of analysing more in the boardroom?

Here is another example. I have readers of our newsletter for new marketers who, after months of following, are still stuck at the start position. They are still analysing the process, saving all the articles for future use, gathering information. All these free steps could be started right away and those actions will give results. But instead, they will gather up information and do their research which stops them in their tracks and they are not progressing. Aside from a bit of time, they have nothing to lose, but what they can gain is much bigger.

Before we do research on the steps to use to achieve success, before we do research on whether an idea is great or not, lucrative or not, we must analise the plusses and the minuses. What have you got to gain by acting right away? What have you got to loses? And maybe our decisions to act faster won’t prevent our success from happening.

For many people growing old is a hard fact to deal with. Many people consider aging a dreadful experience. When many people think of aging, they think of the deterioration of their appearance where as the options of remaining youthful is more appealing since we tend to feel better about ourselves in our youth. There are simple methods to take years off your appearance to help retain the youthful appearance without the need of painful plastic surgery or the needles used in many procedures.

You have gray hair. It isn’t necessarily a bad thing at all but the hair styles can add years to your appearance. To disguise the wrinkles on your forehead, wear bangs to hide them. The current hair styles today incorporate many ways of wearing bangs giving you increased options for the new style. You can wear the bangs straight or have them lightly sweep over your forehead.

Soften your jaw line with a layered hair style cut to the neck area to draw the focus away from this area. Add shorter layers on the top of the head to add volume and take more focus off the jaw line and sagging areas. If you have crow’s feet around your eyes, style your hair around your eyes to help hide the lines. If you wear your hair long, have it layered to refresh your appearance and give yourself a natural facelift.

To hide the gray hairs, instead of coloring the entire hair, opt for highlights to enhance your natural color. The new added colors will give a youthful appearance. If you want to color your hair, avoid selecting a color too dark for your complexion since it will make you look older instead of younger.

To use makeup to change the appearance of your eyes, reshape your eyebrows. If you have thinning eyebrows, use a cosmetic pencil to fill in the sparse areas with a brow powder to fix the pencil on the eyebrow area.

Apply concealer to remove the dark patches and age spots. Use a creamy color that contains peach or yellow undertone to remove the bluish cast under your eyes. Avoid concealers that are lighter than your skin tone.Apply a slight amount of foundation with a powder to seal the concealer. Avoid using too much powder or you will create lines and highlight the flaws in your skin tone. Use a cream blush instead of a powder blush. Using a powder blush will draw attention to the lines in your face.

Use a lighter lip color. Darker colors will make your features appear harsh and accentuates the imperfections in your skin. Make your lips fuller add a touch of lip gloss to the bottom lip.

Apply a moisturizer to your face to keep your skin looking fresh and hydrated. If you use foundation, use a moisture rich mixture. Avoid using too much foundation as it will form in the lines of your face making you appear older as well as showing the fine lines on your face.

Relieving stress is a very crucial task each day if you feel that it’s a problem at work or at home. Stress does strike at anyone for a multitude of differing reasons. Whatever the reason, you must know the best ways to relieve stress in order to bring harmony to your day.

Do not focus on the problem, focus on the solution!

This is the wisest statement and if you apply it to your everyday life, you will find yourself becoming elated instead of feeling down and out. Problems can be blown completely out of proportion. Accept as a human being that you will encounter problems. There are lots of people in the world with no problems and to find them, look up the local graveyard in your town – it’s full of people with no problems!

‘C’est la Vie’ is a great expression and stating ‘hey, that’s life’ at times simply reminds you that as a human, dealing with problems is as frequent as having a meal. The most successful people in the world are drowned in problems. How do they cope? Why – by knowing the best ways to relieve stress through a systematic focus on the solution.

Replace the negative thoughts with some positive reflections. Put things in proportion by placing your life in perspective. Do this by seeing the solution to your problem and start to believe that it’s being solved right away. Visualize the problem disappearing and feel the joy of that problem no longer existing. Believe it or not, you will feel happier.

Stress tends to flow from our inability to deal with problems at the time. It results in a lack of productivity, many headaches and nervous tension. All uncomfortable feelings are just not conducive to a healthy day.

It’s all about how you feel because what you feel is influencing your every thought, your every decision, and in turn each day. Feel healthier by shifting your focus towards an activity that makes you feel better. Think of something funny or just laugh anyway, the effect is one of the best ways to relieve stress.

Physical activities can really help you focus on what you want as you will change your mood and feel that stress is not afflicting you in any way. Jogging is a very good activity and therefore a remedy. Is there a sport that you like?

I can tell you that anti-depressants are not the answer. The problem still exists when the tablet wears off. You have to find a more controlled and happier way to deal with the stress. You have acknowledged the stress by recognizing it as a problem. Try meditation if sport activity is not for you. Just concentrate on your breathing with your eyes closed for 10 minutes.

The best ways to relieve stress can be listening to music, cooking, driving, and playing with your kids in the garden as these are all happy moments. Find a relaxed position in your home or at work and focus on a happy moment. This kind of activity alters your state of mind by replacing the stressful thoughts with a good feeling to occupy your mind.

At the workplace, an employee must not only deal with the workload but also with the environment, particularly the people you work with. Here, several factors come into play and contribute at producing job stress. Problem people on your job may include your co-workers, managers, or your boss. You need to learn how to properly deal with them so you can prevent stress from devastating your working experience.

Manage Stress and Problem People

Problem people are not just confined to the workplace but in other aspects of everyday life that require you to work together. However, it is more pressing to address this issue at work since the company’s productivity is in the line. If you are leading a group of co-employees wherein you need to work at a given task, you have to know what to do in order to manage them properly. Or else, you’d fail to meet the task deadline and end up suffering from high levels of stress. Here are some strategies you can employ:

ï Be tough. If you find that some of your co-workers or employees are not pulling their weight, you need to impose authority in order for them to realize the need to provide quality workforce. You can do this by setting standards and work boundaries for employees to live up to.
ï Communicate assertively. Openly discuss with the people you are working with about each of your responsibilities to a given project or task. If possible, try to approach the matter objectively and free of any emotional leverage. Emphasize your aim to produce an efficient working relationship that results to higher productivity.

About Unreasonable Demands

Most jobs entail their own set of demands. However, there are certain instances wherein unreasonable demands could arise. You need to learn how to identify one against the other in order to know which ones to attend to first. One way to do that is to analyze your job description and what type of work is expected of you by the company. If any demand outside of your work description arises, you need to know how to turn it down while focusing on your job priorities.

This is not to say that you must refuse to attend to real emergencies in the workplace. However, this must not involve just one person but everyone who is concerned. You need to work together in coming up with an effective solution to any of these problems when they arise so you can reduce the level of stress produced by that given situation.

Producing Better Teamwork

If you’re serious about reducing job stress, then you need to come up with an efficient checklist system for your team design. This will enable you to raise awareness about issues or problem areas experienced by your team when working on a given project or task. One way to produce better teamwork is to encourage a feedback system. With this, you can remained focus on increasing performance and relieving team stress.

When coming up with a team design, you need to consider the following important factors:

ï The number of people in your team.
ï Do you need to work together? Or, must you perform separate and individual tasks towards a common goal?
ï Does it require technical skills?
ï Does it require social skills?
ï Does your team have all the resources it need?
ï What is the time frame for working on the project?
ï How effective is your feedback system?

Proper Team Negotiation

Much of the job stress involved with working on a team project is rooted in your inability to resolve conflicts within the group. Therefore, having proper team negotiation skills will help you conquer the stress. Although neither an aggressive nor a passive approach will help your cause, you need to come up with a solution that is agreeable to both parties and one that will benefit the organization.

Different situations require different manners of negotiation. Therefore, you need to use this point to determine exactly what the source of conflict is. Is it lack of resources or lack of proper communication? Then, you can plan a solution accordingly. Once you have worked out possible solutions for the problem, then you will realize how it can significantly reduce the amount of job stress and you’d achieve a more productive working environment.

Impacts of Stress

Stress management is an essential step for you to take once you have determined you are facing stressful situations in your life, regardless of the cause. Although there are helpful types of stress that enables you to cater this added burst of energy into something positive and productive, it is not recommended for your body. Long term stress can specifically produce negative impacts on your health and is recognized to deteriorate your health faster than some other diseases.

Furthermore, stress can reduce your capacity to perform and function well, either at school or in the workplace. Therefore, stress isn’t something to be dismissed. Aside from the personal impacts you can experience from stress, it also affects how you deal with the environment and the people in your lives.

Knowing Your Stress Level

When it comes to stress management, determining the source of stress is often not enough. For people who are often stressed, keeping a stress journal is highly recommended in order for you to monitor the different levels of stress you are experiencing and what effects it produced. This is an effective way for you to closely study your levels of stress, its triggers, and for you to pinpoint exactly what you can do to relieve yourself from it.

Starting on Stress Management

Now that you know the effects that stress can do to you, getting started on a stress management method is necessary. Managing your stress helps you regain control over your life, instead of being consumed by the amount of stress you had to deal with. Here’s how you can get started:

ï Determine what causes stress in your life.
ï Think of ways that you can reduce that stress.
ï Formulate your stress management technique for relieving stress.

Steps on Stress Management

One thing you need to keep in mind is that you cannot expect to totally get rid of stress. It is a process wherein your initial goal would be to reduce the amount of stress in your life until you eventually get rid of it.

The following ideas will help you establish a stress management method that could work for you:

ï Improve your time management skills. Most of your stress in life are a result of your inability to squeeze in your plans within the time available to you. So, creating your schedule will enable you to achieve more in less time. When creating your schedule, put the most important items on top of your list.
ï Study the way you react with stress. This requires your honesty to determine whether your own coping mechanisms are effective or not. If not, then look for other means.
ï Take care of your body. This is often the most neglected aspect of stress management. Get enough rest and eat well. Your health is the most vital factor in stress management.
ï Change your mindset. Oftentimes, stress is produced only by your mind. So, if that is the case with you, then adopting a new perspective might reduce your stress levels.

Benefits of Stress Management

If you cannot fully understand the importance of stress management, then try thinking in reverse. Imagine yourself not suffering from the negative impacts of stress. Without the negative results of stress in your life, then a person is able to enjoy a more satisfying and stress-free life.

To sum it up, here are the benefits that can be derived with practicing an efficient stress management method:

1. It improves your overall health status.
2. You are able to assume a more positive attitude and outlook in life.
3. It increases your productivity since you are able to focus clearly on your tasks.
4. You have better control over your emotions and how you respond to it.
5. And more importantly, you reduce or eliminate stress in your life.
