What Does A Life Coach Do?
The job of a life coach is to help you to pin point what might be the “blocks” that are standing between you and what you want to accomplish in your personal and professional life.
In many cases, the reason for such blockage is not hard to find and even sometimes pretty obvious for an outsider such as the life coach, however, it can be very difficult for the bearer of such block to even realize it.
By asking the right questions, the life coach is able to see what the problem is and give the right suggestions and exercises to help resolve the problem.
Another important thing where a life coach can come handy is in helping you to find out what are your “subconscious beliefs” that are preventing you from moving forward in life or from succeeding in anything you do, really.
- What are your subconscious beliefs?
- At what point were they embedded in your subconscious mind?
- How to come to the realization that such subconscious beliefs are not founded on anything at all but, your own mind?
Your subconscious beliefs are coming directly from your parents of whoever raised you. Unfortunately, sometimes intentionally and mostly unintentionally some false beliefs have been fed into our subconscious mind.
As a child before the age of 6 we have heard the word “NO” about five times more than we have heard the word “yes”. A simple word as the word, no, can “teach” our subconscious mind a negative experience instead of a positive one.
- No, you can’t do this
- No, do not eat like that
- No, this is bad
- No, this is dangerous
- No, this is not for you
- No, this is too much
- No, not now
- No, you don’t deserve it
- No, you didn’t behave
As we all know, the list goes on and on and on…..
These might seem insignificant statements enough, don’t they? The truth is that are NOT insignificant for our subconscious mind. The most important time for our subconscious mind which is between the ages of 0 and 6 has been filled with such negative statements and warnings. No wonder we all have to struggle with success at one level or another.
Many of such beliefs were simply coming from the word “NO” that we heard some many times during our fist 6 years of life. And, the word no is ONLY a tiny example of the negative “beliefs” that was created in our subconscious mind.
Understanding Your Subconscious Mind
For those who are still new with the concept of the greater mind called the subconscious mind let’s see what it is.
If our mind were to be compared to an iceberg, our conscious mind would be the tip of the iceberg (the visible part). Our subconscious mind, however, would be the much larger part of the iceberg that is underwater and which hold everything together.
Our conscious mind is the smaller, less influential part of our mind. On the other hand our subconscious mind controls 99% of our action and results. In other word our subconscious mind is much more powerful than our conscious mind.
A very good example that will help you understand how our conscious and subconscious minds work is the act of driving a car.
When you first learn how to drive a car, you have to consciously drive the car. You have to think about the location of the brake pedal, the acceleration pedal, where you are located on the road and make sure you stay there, how to slow down before a stop sign, so forth and so on… Conscious driving is very uncomfortable and very tough, isn’t it?
Once you know how to drive, however, your subconscious mind takes over and drives the car (for you). Not only you don’t have to think about the pedals, how to slow down and try to keep the car going straight, but you can afford to think about something else, listen to music or talk to another person in the car.
The reason why you can do all these things and still “drive the car” is because you are now driving subconsciously not consciously. Once your subconscious mind takes over it does a much better job. It just gets things done.
The Subconscious Mind Controls Our Beings
The subconscious mind controls basically all our habits and emotions and results in life. However, it’s not capable to analyze or rationalize in any way shape or form. The subconscious mind believes everything and anything.
That’s why what we put in there is crucial!
This is why whatever was fed into our subconscious mind when we were at an age where our actions and reactions were controlled more by our subconscious mind than our conscious mind we formed most of our beliefs, habits, fears, confidence or the lack of it.
